Interesting Notables

Nick joined the Army in July 2001 just before 9/11. He was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and again in 2006.

In December 2006 he was injured by a remote detonated IED while returning from a patrol on foot. This resulted in the loss of both of his legs below the knee and some nerve damage to his hands as well as left arm.

Nick was honorably discharged in 2009. At this point he entered into wheelchair racing as a way to stay fit and have fun.

It turns out, Nick is a natural. After taking to the track and starting a rigorous workout schedule, he began competing on the track in late 2011.

In 2014, he made the U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Team.
